A bass-baritone known for his clear, classic American sound, John's most recent performances include his last-minute cover of the Verdi Requiem bass solo with the Yakima Symphony, scenes from Carmen with the Walla Walla Symphony, and his recital with pianist Ann Schilperoort at Grace Presbyterian Church in Yakima, Washington, focusing on the work of composer Lazar Weiner.

John returns to the Walla Walla Symphony in April 2027 as the bass soloist for their performance of Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem.

During his tenure as bass young artist for the Yakima Symphony Orchestra (2024-2026) he also performed the solo for Dmitri Tiomkin’s It’s a Wonderful Life Suite, and prepared the bass solo for Orff’s Carmina Burana as the understudy.

John was a founding member of the Yakima Valley Light Opera where he sang the role of Frank in Die Fledermaus, a show he would return to as Dr Falke with the Capitol Hill Opera.

While studying at University of Denver, John sang Major General Stanley for the winter scenes, and was cast as Leporello in the school’s production of Don Giovanni. While there he studied primarily under Larry Elder, as well as learning from Ken Cox and Cathy Kasch.

Outside of music John is a husband, father of 3 girls, and a disability rights advocate working to advance recognition of musicians with cerebral palsy, and has been an active fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network since childhood.
